Shift Happens: Education 3.0
Educating for the Unknown- Being proactive to future needs of society is the challenge of educators and students alike. Technology allows for the easy exchange of ideas which melts away distance and time between places and people allowing for communities of practice to develop. Education in the US should abandon outdated industrial models- and find new life. Teachers must guide students to become good citizens of the world in a climate which addresses the ever changing challenges of the future.
The challenge of education is to educate students for the future, a future that holds many unknowns. As teachers we need to shift focus from the daily power struggles within our schools to the larger picture: how we educate students will determine our nation’s path. Teachers are on the front lines; it is up to us to make the discussion student-centric, pushing for curricula and assessments to align with authentic useful learning. Teaching for the Unknown was established to introduce ideas for reflective thought on education. Short bio: Christine Morano Magee has an Ed.D.
